Responce to Speak Statement Number One

I am responding to the statement “People who are quiet have some thing to hide” I do not agree with this statement. The person who is quiet may be just shy. The person who is quiet also just might not be very social. The person also might have a disability, and / or are to self- conscious about it.
The person who is shy might just be that, shy. They might have never been very social, and they are being shoved into a social situation, or world. They did not want to go there, but they need to be there, maybe because they need to learn There is possibly some one is making them, because the person who is making them thinks they know whats best for the person.  Some people just want to be left alone.
Some  of the people who do not want to be very social.People are just not very social, and they might want to be any where but where they are. Some people do not help with that, and try to talk to the un- social person, which is annoying to the un- social person. That does not make any thing better for the person, because now they are annoyed, and still not very social, which just makes things a lot worse than they were before the person talked to the un- social person.
Some people are just self- conscious about a disability. If they have a speech impediment, they might  just be embraced about it. They are probably just not ready for every person around them (and every one they tell), to know about their disability. They just do not want every one to know about their so- called ‘problem” Well, I guess some people have some thing to hide.
Like I said before, some people have something to hide. “He doesn’t even bother a fake smile or an ‘Are you lost?’” (99). The person that didn’t talk this time was just minding his own business. “A few hands creep skyward. Mr. Neck ignores them. It is a pretend question.”(53), here, people are being quiet because they do not want to get in trouble. In the book, Mel hid the fact that she was raped by some kid at the party she went to before the school year started. “Maybe I should ask the guidance counselor for a therapist or a nosy shrink. I don’t say anything and I feel awful,. I tell somebody and I feel worse. I am having a hard time finding middle ground” (185).  It may be the fact that if they tell any one, then someone will hurt them or someone that is close to the quiet person.
That is what I got to say for this Speak statement. These are my thoughts on this subject.   If you have some other thought process on the statement “People who are quiet have some thing to hide."

Clayton's Summer Reading Project

                      Books: The Contender,  Enders Game

In down town Detroit, a kid named Alfred walks outside after training for a boxing championship. As he was walking home, he saw a blinking light, and watched it get bigger, until it crashed right in front of him.
"What's that?" he said, amazed.
A kid walked out, he was no more than eighteen years old.
"I'm Captain Ender, who are you?" he asked.
"I'm Alfred." he said, astonished
Ender walked out of the rubble that was once  a space ship, and held out his hand, for a handshake. Alfred picked up on this, and gave him a handshake.
"you need a place to stay" Alfred asked Ender.
When they got to Alfred's, Alfred gave Ender a blanket, and a pillow.
"You cen sleep on the couch." Alfred said
Ender just plainly said"Thanks."
The next morning, while they were eating breakfast, they saw the news that a military craft had crashed. Alfred looked at Ender and nodded. So they both went down to where the crash had been.
When they got to the crash scene, there were the police, and the fire department there.
"Keep it movin', keep it movin', nothin' to see here, people!" A cop was saying.
"can you distract the cop?', Ender asked Alfred
"Yeah" Alfred replied
Alfred walked up to the cop, and poked him. While he was doing that, Ender snuck onto the space craft, and got it to run. Ender flew to the next street, and Alfred followed.
While on the next block, Ender picked up Alfred, and flew to a suburb out side of town. Alfred said he knew someone who could fix the ship.
"How close is the shop?" Ender asked Alfred
"What shop?" Alfred said " We're goin' to his house."
" How are we supposed to get there?"Ender asked, frustrated at this point
"We can call him, he'll come." Alfred stated
Luckily, they found a pay phone down the road.
After a little while, a red station wagon pulled up, and a man wearing jean shorts, a T- shirt, and sneakers got out of the car.
"You sure know how to pick'em." Ender said sadistically
"Hey, this guy can fix anything!" Alfred shot back
The man didn't say anything, he just went to work fixing the broken space craft. About two hours later, he was done.
"Hey, thanks!" Ender shouted to the guy
He just got back into the station wagon, and drove away.
At that moment, the police arrived, and Ender and Alfred both jumped into the space craft. Ender managed to get it to run again, and fly it away from Earth. Back to the place he was trained
When they got there, Ender was greeted by everyone.
"Who're they?" Alfred asked
"Just some old friends." Ender replied
